ALL THINGS NEW

In the early 1900s, millions immigrated to America, seeking to forget the past and reinvent themselves. Qatar, with its newfound riches, is one of very few with the same opportunity to reinvent itself in modern times. . Little evidence remains of Qatar’s obscurity before oil discovery in the 1940s or natural gas discovery in the 1970s. Fifteen years ago, the country was in debt. Now Qatar is the richest nation in the world per capita. Construction and development are exploding. . As modernization and its glory collide with culture, we must recognize that the new and shiny surface likely belies…

UK HUMAN RIGHTS REPORTERS RELEASED FROM QATAR

On August 31st, 2014 two UK human rights reporters went missing in Qatar while they were investigating the living and working conditions of Nepalese migrant workers. On September 7th Qatar confirmed that the reporters had been arrested for “violating the laws of Qatar”. Today the British embassy confirmed the reporters’ release and that they will soon be back in the UK. Let’s take this as an opportunity to pray: Pray that the reporters recover from their dramatic experience. Pray that the living and working conditions of the migrant workers in Qatar will drastically improve. Pray that the Qatari government will…

PRAY FOR GOVERNMENT LEADERS

“Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good. They must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone.” –Titus 3:1-2 In Titus 3:1-2, and also Romans 13:1-7, we are reminded that as Christians we are to have respect for government authority. We are not to be slanderers, but to be speakers of life. Pray for the government leaders of Qatar. Pray that they would have soft hearts towards Christianity and that they would become believers themselves.

ASK OTHERS TO PRAY

Calling Qatar to Christ through Prayer. That is Pray For Qatar’s purpose. We desire to see 10,000 intercessors praying for Qatar on a regular basis. Will you join us? Will you join in praying for God to change a nation? As you pray today, ask God to make Himself known to all those living in Qatar. And as you go about your day today, ask another person to pray for Qatar as well.

OCEANS

Listen to the song “Oceans”, http://youtu.be/1m_sWJQm2fs, and as you do, PRAY and ask God if He is calling you to Qatar to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders Let me walk upon the waters Wherever You would call me Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander And my faith will be made stronger In the presence of my Saviour

A CURE

“If you found a cure for cancer, wouldn’t it be inconceivable to hide it from the rest of mankind? How much more inconceivable to keep silent the eternal wages of death?” Pray that Christians in Qatar would receive boldness from the Holy Spirit to share the gospel message with those around them.

CREATED FOR RELATIONSHIP

Among Qatari people wealth and luxury are abundant. As humans we were created by God for relationship with Him; we were made to crave it and nothing else can satisfy that hunger. “Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!” –Ecclesiastes 5:10 Pray that Qataris realize that wealth and luxury are not enough, and that they would seek a relationship with Jesus.

QATARIZATION

Qatar is in a predicament. The discovery of abundant natural resources attracted foreigners from around the globe to take jobs. However, now, there is a tug of war between who should be given the jobs: Qataris or foreigners. About 8 years ago the electric company replaced all Qatari employees with Southeast Asians. The typical Qatari is expensive to hire. Qataris have a long list of social obligations to family and are unlikely to work the same hours as others, thus seen as unreliable employees. Frequently, even companies with Qatari business owners do not hire Qataris; when they are hired, they…

ABOLISH FEAR

Pray for fear to be abolished in expats’ lives and that threats would not keep them from sharing their faith. Read Michael’s Profile: https://prayforqatar.com/?p=96

LUKE 10:2 PRAY FOR WORKERS

Luke 10:2 ‘These were Jesus’ instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”‘ Pray that God would strategically send expats with natural means of access (employment opportunities) and hearts for evangelism to connect with Qataris.

EXPATS MOVING IN AND OUT

Foreigners constitute as much as 85% of Qatar’s total population. Most foreigners are from nations east of Qatar and are wooed to the country by jobs and high earning potential not available in their home countries. People are often most open to changes in belief at critical junctures in their lives, such as a cross-cultural move may desire to connect, opening the door for them to receive the Gospel. Pray that expats moving in and out of Qatar would be drawn to the message of Jesus Christ.
