We’re following Prayercast with their #PrayForHajj updates–you should too! . Day 1 of the Hajj starts tomorrow. 2-3 million Muslims will cleanse themselves and put on a white pilgrim garment before they head towards the Ka’aba for their first sighting (climax of a Muslim’s spiritual life). We pray that as they reach this sacred site they would sense a deep longing for something more, setting them out on a new pilgrimage in search of their Savior, Jesus. ~

Islam has five pillars, actions obligatory for believers. One, the hajj, is a pilgrimage that every able-bodied Muslim should make once in his lifetime. Pilgrims join millions of others in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the week before the annual festival of Eid al-Adha. They perform a series of rituals centering around a stone called the Kaaba, a journey between two hills, drinking from a well, and sacrificing an animal to commemorate God’s provision for Hagar when Abraham and Sarah sent her and Ishmael into the wilderness.
