PURPOSEFUL SERVANTHOOD

In the 1700s, Moravian missionaries desired to take the Gospel to the farthest corners of the Earth. Two men, a potter and a carpenter, set out to reach slaves in the West Indies. Told they couldn’t, they pledged to sell themselves into slavery if that’s what it took to reach the islands of St. Thomas and St. Croix with the Gospel.

The cost of living is too high to send many Western missionaries. It is rumored that followers of Jesus in some eastern countries come to the Middle East to work in service jobs and share the Gospel. With jobs in private homes, often in child care, they have greater access, especially in raising up the next generation.

Slavery and servitude aren’t ideal, but they do grant access to Qatari families. We know from Namaan’s story in 2 Kings 5 that God can use even a humble servant girl to proclaim truth.

Read Titus 2:9-10 and 1 Corinthians 9:19-22. We thank you for those who became like you, the Servant of All, to creatively access Qataris with the message of the Gospel. We pray you would protect these workers from mistreatment and ask you to grant them courageous boldness as they stand for Truth.
